What's it about?
At the turn of the century three artists came together to form NW1. 9 years on the same trio are a MOBO award winning group, with two albums and three top 40 hits under their belts... oh and they've appeared on GMTV.
With the release of their second album in under a year it's clear N-Dubz have broken through the mainstream barrier and found the formula to staying relevant. With their mix of heartfelt male and female raps over perfect electro beats it's no wonder they're regularly appearing in the Top 40.
While this album is hardly exploding with originality, with various references to Facebook and how many records they've sold, this is a record brimming with energy.
As an example...
"You weren't saying shit when I was gripping on your pelvis, now you're trying to act up saying that I'm selfish/And I ain't ready for no pikney, I can't help it, it's too late to say I shoulda wore a helmet." – Shoulda Put Something On
Is it any good?
It's good, but not as good as their last effort. Too many similar sounding tracks let this album down. During the latter part of the album I could have been mistaken for listening to one lenghty song. I'd have to say that overall this album lacks cohesiveness, but it's still worth checking out.
For: I Need You, Playing With Fire, Na Na, Suck Yourself, Number 1
Against: No One Knows, Shoulda Put Something On, Comfortable
Overall: 3.5/5
