After recently hearing to 50's new album Before I Self Destruct, I wanted to go back and listen to his debut release, Power Of The Dollar.
Power of the Dollar was unofficially-released in the September of 2000, a year before 50's shooting. The album itself is 18 tracks long of which all were produced in the space of two weeks.
The album really showcases 50's talents as a rapper, using his wit he really commands the listeners ear over the funk infused beats. In his first single titled How To Rob 50 comically explains how he would rob some of raps most respected artists including the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Big Pun and DMX.
The track I like the most and have chosen to upload is Ghetto Qu'ran (Forgive Me), which many believe provoked his shooting. The song was leaked in early 2000 and garnered the attention of many within the underworld of drug dealing. The song mentions drug dealers from the 1980s in his neighborhood of South Jamaica, Queens.
It's definately worth a listen, if you haven't already heard it. The audio link is below.
