AOTD: Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous

Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous was sadly both the first and last album from the Harlem-born Big L. Released in 1995 the album wasn't well received by many critics, with Rolling Stone magazine giving the album 2 out of 5 stars.

The albums features gritty production from the D.I.T.C. crew, Buckwild and Lord Finesse amongst others. It also features a few guest rappers some note able names including Jay-Z and Killa Cam who were coming up in the hip-hop scene at the time. Since Big L's murder in 1999, the album has become more popular and is now considering by some to be a hip-hop classic.

I've chosen to upload Street Struck, this track shows why he is considered to be one of the best to ever do it. His flow is on point while he spits about getting out of the hood mentality. It has that gritty production style, with backing horns which really bring that street feel. Peep it below.
